Hon’ble Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe founded Shri Swami
Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha in order to impart the education for knowledge,
science and inculcation through many branches all over Maharashtra and outside
Maharashtra as well. One of them is Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science and Commerce
College, Ichalkaranji which was established in 1962 and recently the college
celebrated the golden jubilee. The
department of English also has a glorious tradition of the English teachers who
worked as the principals of this college-Prin. A.P. Rane, Prin. Mrs.V.H. Patil,
Prin. V. A. Ranade and Prin. Dr. A. A. Karande. Previously, the Department was headed by like
Prof. P.S. Sabnis, Prof. S. V. Naik, Dr. S.I. Noorani and presently Prof. Mrs. Shailaja A.
Changundi is working as the head of the department.

Department of English looks forward to imparting
1.To
create interest among the students for English.
2.To
acquaint the students with the classical literature of the world.
3.To
make the students compatible for competitive examinations.
4.To
motivate the students for writing activities and enhance the creative attitude
among them.
